Freshers are cooked

So, two new interns joined my office today. Fresh‑faced 21‑year‑olds, totally unbothered and full of that sweet, innocent optimism that corporate life is their dream.

They wander over to my desk and ask what I do. Turns out they are doing the exact same Master's degree I completed a few years ago.

When I graduated, the job hunt felt like a war. I was fighting for my life, millions of rejection emails, just to land a decent gig. So I asked them how placements are and what the current batch size is.

"Oh, it's 900," one says casually.

"What about undergrad?"

"Ah, undergrad is around 1,500."

Holy mother of mass production.

I sat there doing the mental math, trying not to let my face twitch. 1,500 kids in one batch? That's not a college, that's a religious pilgrimage. How do they even take attendance? Do they use a census drone? Do they hold lectures in a cricket stadium?

Finally, who's going to employ all of them?

I looked at these two poor kids and realised India is absolutely cooked.

Education is a scam. Check who owns these huge private colleges and you'll get an idea. I bet at least 60-70% of those 1,500 will graduate without jobs.

I am a fresher with a BA degree, no skills and no work experience. I don't want to be in corporate. I'd rather be self‑employed but I don't know which skills are needed.

Some private universities have an intake of 2,000 for just CSE UG, apart from other branches. India is producing engineers like a factory. I wonder how the government allows such massive intakes when these universities don't even have the infrastructure to handle the load.
