I'm a 23‑year‑old male from Haryana, raised by a single mother who always tried her best to support my education. I was never strong academically – I scored 45 % in 10th and 50 % in 12th (commerce without maths). After school I joined CA because many of my batchmates were doing it, but it wasn't the right fit and I ended up wasting 2 years.

At 21 I got into a poor‑quality B.Com college. I also worked for 2 years in a CA firm where I learned basic bookkeeping. Right now I'm doing a job alongside college and earning 9k per month, but I have about 20 backlogs.

I regret not taking studies seriously earlier. Now I want to improve my situation and build a better future, but I'm confused about which course, skill, or career path will give me a decent salary and stable job.

I would really appreciate advice from people who have been in similar situations or know practical options.

You'll notice that you haven't been making decisions consciously – most of them are just reactions to outside noise. Take some time to relax, understand what you truly like, maybe try a personality test to see your strengths. Nothing is set in stone, bro. Don't limit yourself.

Just keep grinding; after completing intermediate you can aim for a job that pays at least 40k.

I have a decent side‑income method that you can do in your free time. DM me for details.

Clear your backlogs as soon as possible and start learning a skill like digital marketing. If you become good at it, you could land a job paying around 50k right away.

During student life we often pick paths by copying others. But it's not too late – you can still sort things out step by step. First, clear your backlogs, then spend 1–2 hours daily learning a skill such as Excel, digital marketing or accounting tools. Stick to one path for a few months and you'll start seeing positive results.

Finish your degree, clear all your backlogs and skip M.Com. If you can spare some money, consider an MBA from a reputable college – do your research before enrolling. An MBA can be a real game‑changer, especially when you're earning only 9k now. You can definitely turn things around, brother. Start with the basics and let your effort compound.

Our society often pushes us into a herd mentality, making us choose paths based on others' expectations rather than our own interests. Since you've realized this stream isn't right for you, stop pouring more time into it – that's the sunken‑cost fallacy.

Take some time to introspect and identify the tasks you enjoy and the skills that come naturally. That insight should guide your next move. If you find it hard to figure out on your own, consider seeing a professional career counsellor who can use psychometric assessments to help you.
