Bollywood movies

[Anand]

My friend and I were watching RRR on Netflix. We looked it up on Letterboxd and IMDb and were surprised by the scores – 4.2 and 7.8. It's a great film and we had a blast watching it, especially the over‑the‑top scenes and choreography.

Now we're wondering, are Bollywood movies the benchmark for us Indians, or is it because we view films through a western lens that makes them feel a bit odd? (We really liked the movie, though.)

Try watching Pyaasa (black‑and‑white, by the way) or Lunchbox. They might match your taste better.

What exactly are you trying to find out?

[Meera]

A movie that feels more Western.

Figure out what you liked about it and why.

Secondly, cinema is an art form, so don't try to fit everything into a template.

Thirdly, it isn't a Bollywood film. To be frank, it doesn't belong to any –wood.
