This performance will definitely ease everyone's nerves ahead of the AVC Asian Championship in Japan.

Amazing game. Thanks to everyone sharing the match details and schedule, otherwise I would have missed it.

Here's a beginner's guide (by a beginner) to volleyball tournaments based on what I found on Google. I'm not covering the Olympics or its qualifiers because I'm not sure about those.

- The top event is the World Championships or Volleyball World Cup, held every four years but from 2025 it will be every two years. India qualified twice, in 1952 and 1956. Under the current rules, India must finish in the top three at the Asian Championship or be among the top-15 ranked nations to qualify.
- The Asian Volleyball Championship is where Asian and Oceania nations compete for World Cup slots. India's best finish is fourth place.
- The Asian Games - India has one silver and two bronzes in this event, which is like the Olympics but just for Asian countries.
- The AVC Volleyball Cup (formerly the AVC Challenger Cup) is the tournament where India won the bronze medal this time - our first medal in this competition. It runs alongside the Volleyball Nations League.
- The Volleyball Nations League continues from the former World Volleyball League with 18 teams. From 2025, the bottom-placed team gets relegated and the best-ranked non-participant gets promoted to the VNL.
- There was also a now-defunct tournament called the AVC Cup for Men or simply the Asian Cup. India earned a silver in 2010 and a bronze in 2014 there.

Right now the goal should be to improve our ranking as much as possible so we can get into the two premier events: the Volleyball World Cup and the Volleyball Nations League.

Feel free to correct me or add anything I missed. I'll post another comment about the Olympics once I find more info.
