Mumbai Police have stopped a plan by Faiyaz Premji to poison a Muharram procession in the city. He was going to use capsules filled with zinc phosphide, a strong rat poison. The police seized 14,900 toxic capsules before they could be handed out, averting a possible disaster. Premji, who lives in Pune and often travels to Iran and Iraq, was arrested after a participant showed symptoms of poisoning. The investigation is still on to find out whether he acted alone or was part of a larger network. He now faces charges of administering poison and attempted murder under Indian law.
