It's been a year since I appeared for JEE and didn't qualify for some reason. I'm now in a tier-5 college.

My parents say that after I finish BTech they'll fund my MTech, and before I complete my PG they'll get me married.

They believe that once a girl starts working, she becomes more interested in earning for herself and loses interest in marriage. According to them, eventually I'll refuse to be a housewife if I have a job. So they think girls should never earn.

Ladies, please fight for your future. Go to a good college, get a well-paid job, become independent.

I'll do whatever I can to land a good job though.

Danny

Boys, you should study too.

Akbar

You should follow your own advice too.

Vasant

I still haven't been able to cope with the JEE trauma. I'm also in a tier-3 college. Now it's on you because we can't say anything to our parents. You have to prove yourself by studying for GATE and, if you get a good college, that'll help.

Mister

Sis, your parents are the problem.

My friend's sister studies at IIT-K, and her parents say the same thing. The issue is with the parents.

Saad

If you're serious, study hard, go to placements, secretly get a job and tell them 'f*** you'.

Advik

I don't get why they're even paying for BTech; why didn't they send you to home science or something?
Anyway, good for you - try to get placed after BTech.

Ishita

Son, do you really think that if you were from IIT their mindset would change? BTech is still four years and MTech is still two years.

The problem is the parents.

Ranjit

And there are still people saying we don't need a female quota.

Falguni

Even when I was in class 12, my parents used to say they'd start looking for a boy for me once I turned 18 and marry me before I turned 20. I used to cry listening to them.

But now I'm in NIT CS, and they don't force me to do anything; they've given me complete freedom.

Girls, earn it and move far away from home.

Usha

Keep going.
Find a job and fight for your freedom.
