Weekend went from bad to worse - lost save file, then PS5 died

Well folks, my PS5 is dead.

On Friday I lost my 30‑hour KCD1 save because my sister accidentally clicked "Transfer Save Data from PS4". I turned off the PS5 after that and the next morning it simply wouldn't power on.

I thought it was the power cable, so I bought a new one, but the console still won't turn on.

I bought this PS5 in 2023 and have only logged about 470 hours on it. I always used a surge protector and a stabiliser, so I never expected this.

This is the second console that's died on me. My PS4 Slim died just 4 days after I bought it in 2017. Amazon replaced it, and that replacement lasted until I sold it earlier this year.

Gaming was one of the few things that helped me relax, so this really sucks, and I haven't felt this annoyed in years.

EDIT: I only placed the console on a towel while packing it up. That's not where I normally keep it; I have a separate table in my room where the PS5 usually stays.

They don't die that easily. Something else must have happened to it.

Naveen

Get it checked by a technician; it could just be a minor issue.

Samar

Get the fuse checked by someone; the PSU has an inbuilt fuse and it may have blown.

Krishna

That's the worst time in a console's life cycle, too.

Firoz

You can try cleaning it; I don't think you can call it dead before checking it first.

Electricity in India does this to devices. I had an M.2 SSD die after just 5 months because of regular power fluctuations in my area. It never happened to any other device. RIP - you might still recover data if you get the PSU replaced or checked.

Since it happened twice, it's likely a power-connection issue. Loose wiring contacts in a house can cause this.
