I've tried glycolic acid for the dark spots around my mouth, but it didn't help. Has anyone managed to get rid of them? How did you do it? I can't afford laser treatment, I'm only 19.

Just a heads-up before you jump in: I needed to revisit the post when people comment with recommendations, so I left a comment. It's not that serious, just stay calm.

Give alpha-arbutin serum a try.

I'm not sure about using glycolic acid for the dark spots around the mouth. I saw on Reddit that some folks used azelaic acid and got good results.

Product: The Ordinary.

Routine: night only

1. Cleanse your face
2. Pat it dry
3. Apply a pea-sized amount of azelaic acid around the mouth
4. Follow with moisturizer
5. In the morning, sunscreen is a must

PS: Start with 2-3 times a week, then alternate days. Once your skin tolerates it, you can use it every night following the same steps.

PS: Don't mix glycolic acid and azelaic acid together as they can irritate the skin since both are strong actives.

I bought this product a couple of months ago for the same issue and haven't used it yet.

You need to use glycolic acid for 2-3 months to notice any improvement. Also, add azelaic acid!

Don't use both on the same day. Apply one, then the other on alternate days.
