In Sivakasi, eight‑year‑old Tamizh Amudhan turned a simple blackout into a night to remember. He was sitting on the floor in Thiruthangal, a candle flickering beside him and his laptop propped on a pillow. Using his mother's phone hotspot (just 1 GB of data) and a half‑charged laptop, he logged onto Chess.com and beat Vincent Keymer, the World No. 7, in an online blitz game. A thunderstorm had cut the power, so the candle also helped keep his face visible for the site's fair‑play camera. His dad had suggested skipping the tournament, worried the setup wouldn't hold, but Tamizh refused to quit. He managed only four games before the laptop finally died.

Amazing! Indian kids are making chess history. In a few years when they grow up, India's dominance will be phenomenal.
