Got a Teams call - Important Teams Update

Looks like I'm getting fired today. Feeling a strange calm, which is surprising.

Update:
I got fired, and somehow this became the top post here—life's always exciting! Really appreciate all the support; it means a lot. Thanks for the kind words. If anyone knows senior engineering roles, I'd be grateful for a referral. Happy to share my resume.

Raj

:( Best of luck, OP. Hope you sail through this storm

When will this storm end? It feels worse than a recession.

Vishal

Well that sucks, I got a call on Friday that I was let go from my project, lol.

Ashok

Did anyone else on your team get the same email?

Sometimes they say, "We let go of 50 people from the business unit, but you're safe," just to stop gossip. Anyway, good luck!

Damini

That happened to me when I was laid off. It was just a 15‑minute meeting on a Friday afternoon during KT for a new project. I was let go along with 300 others.

1. Check your contract for the separation terms.
2. Jot down the email of your line manager, skip and key HR contacts, in case your access gets locked.
3. Find out how long your group medical will stay valid after you leave. Keep the insurer's contact handy if you want to continue the policy; many insurers allow that.
4. Look at what you'll get as F&F—gratuity, severance, leave encashment, etc.
5. Remember, you don't have to sign anything right now, no matter what. If they ask you to sign, tell them you need time to think.

The calm you feel shows you've wanted to leave this organisation for a while. Now it's happening, just not the way you imagined. Accept whatever comes as a blessing in disguise and move on.
