Realizing parents need more health care than you do as you grow up

Growing up is basically realising your parents need to take care of their health more than you do

The toughest part of being an adult is seeing your parents not taking care of themselves like they used to take care of you. They skip exercise, don't get enough sleep, and just say they're fine, and you're too caught up to constantly check on them. I got my parent a simple fitness tracker just to monitor their steps and sleep, nothing too fancy. It's funny how seeing their own progress made them more consistent than any lecture I could give. Sometimes a small gadget can be the push they need to listen

I suggested this to my dad and one of his friends also suggested it. But he told me if he starts tracking all this stuff, he'll just get more anxious and his heart rate will go up, and then he'll end up in hospital and they'll find even more problems, so he didn't want to do it. He said I could use it, but not to check too often or it'll give me tension. I think a lot of older people are pretty set in their ways and don't want to change

Thanks for sharing this, I never thought about it from this perspective, will definitely get one for my parents with my first salary

I'm glad you're doing that, but that's a pretty basic fitness tracker, doesn't track well at all

But the main issue with our parents is the state of hospitals in our country, my dad is actually scared of getting wrong treatment if he gets admitted, and to be honest, there are a lot of cases like that happening these days, which is really sad

An Apple Watch would be a way better option since it has ECG and hypertension detection, and fall detection too

This is a good idea, but maybe not the most practical one. Rings like these can be a problem because their batteries can swell up, which can make them really hard to remove, sometimes even impossible. The risk is even higher in hot climates like India, where the heat can make the battery expand more. Once the battery swells, the ring has to be cut or sawed off, which can put the wearer's finger at risk
