Why do guys think calling us 'Didi' offends us?? Lol

We've all seen guys randomly call girls didi as if it's supposed to offend us, and I kinda get what they're trying to do, but it still doesn't make sense. It feels like they're trying to say you're 'undesirable' or not someone they'd consider romantic, like it's meant to bruise your ego. Basically, calling you didi is their way of saying 'you're not that kind of girl.'

But the funny part is it never lands that way, lmao. For example, when a girl says something a guy doesn't like, instead of replying properly he just says 'okay didi' or keeps calling her didi in a sarcastic tone—there are many such cases.

Also, why do they assume being seen as 'desirable' by them is the ultimate goal? That's not even the insult they're thinking of.

Most of the time it just feels like a fallback when they have nothing better to say or they're trying to look cool.

Bro, I once called some boys 'didi' while they were doing eve‑teasing... weirdest thing ever.

Lakshmi

And most of the time these guys are probably the bottom 10% of their batch. Like, okay baldy.

Kiran

I thought it was just a way of saying 'YOU OLD, LMAO' because I do that... a guy who's just a year older gets called unc for no reason... it's meant to be silly, not offensive... but I'm not a man, so I don't really know what's going on in their heads.

Firoz

Desirable? They even assault lizards... Is there anything they don't find desirable?

Khushi

I think it's the irritating tone they use. Like saying 'Madam', 'Madamji' or the classic 'Auntie'. There's subtle ageism there, love to see it.

Bhavya

For real, when we use 'bhai' as slang in the middle of a convo, their fragile ego gets so deflated that they think using 'didi' will make them look cool or something, lol.

Govind

Is 'didi' supposed to be an insult? I actually take a lot of pride in being the wise old didi.

Manoj

My classmate back in school used to call me 'didi'. No problem with that, but he said it in a mocking way, like wtf.

Bhavin

Sometimes even people just a year or two younger call you that. I know it's not always meant as an insult, but it does make you feel older. I'm 22 and I don't want to feel old.

Vidya

You're wrong if you think only boys call girls 'didi'. In my school, girls would call other girls 'didi' in a mocking tone, usually to imply they were unattractive.
