PVR INOX is running a blatant scam with their Passport subscription, and the Consumer Protection Act in India feels like a joke. Their own Terms of Use (Point 17) clearly limit movie blackouts to the first 14 days of release, yet they are still blacking out Dhurandhar: The Revenge on Day 18. I tried booking for 6 Apr (didn't work), 7 Apr (didn't work) and 8 Apr (didn't work) – all weekdays, no holidays, and none of them worked. This isn't the first time; I've seen the same with movies that did well at the box office – Kantara was excluded for 21 days, Avatar for 16 days, Dhurandhar Part 1 for 21 days. Their terms never mention extending the 14‑day period.

When I contacted support, they sent this textbook "we don't care" reply:

"We would like to inform you that Dhurandhar: The Revenge is currently still under the blackout period for Passport bookings... The movie will be available for booking... once the blackout period is lifted."

This is a clear case of Deficiency in Service and Unfair Trade Practice. They take your subscription money upfront based on a 14‑day rule, then arbitrarily stretch it to 20+ days just to push full‑price ticket sales.

I lodged a complaint on the CP GRAMS portal under the consumer protection unit, but I have little hope of resolution. I don't even care about the ₹349 I paid – it's the principle that matters. I'm frustrated with how weak our consumer act is and how easily companies flout it without any real action.

PVR is violating multiple sections of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019:

• Unfair Trade Practice (Section 2(47))
• Deficiency in Service (Section 2(11))
• Misleading Advertisement (Section 2(28))

It's sad that companies overseas not only refund the full amount with proper compensation but also apologise sincerely. Looks like we're turning into a land of thugs, dacoits, jealous and angry folks.

Passport is unavailable right now, I think they're doing something.

I'm a lawyer. You definitely have a strong case. You can draft a petition using AI and file it yourself on e‑jagriti.

Always be careful with any scheme that asks you to pay first and promises benefits later.
