Hey everyone! Big legal edu alert:

The Bar Council of India has just issued a stern advisory (June 25, 2025) warning that any LL.M. or equivalent law degree offered online, hybrid, distance, or under labels like "LL.M. (Professional)" or "Executive LL.M." is unauthorised without explicit BCI approval

That means:
  • 🛑 Degrees from such programmes are null & void ab initio - not valid for judicial service, teaching appointments, promotions, research registrations, or UGC‑NET eligibility
  • BCI has already sent show‑cause notices to top institutions like NLIU Bhopal, IIT Kharagpur, Jindal Global, and NLU Delhi
  • High Courts and the Supreme Court have been asked to reject such credentials unless candidates can show written proof of BCI sanctions

If you are considering an LL.M., especially through non‑traditional modes like online modules, please double‑check with the BCI registrar before enrolling. Don't let misleading titles fool you. This isn't just marketing, it's a hard‑hitting regulatory crackdown.

Thanks for sharing this warning! The BCI's crackdown on unapproved online/hybrid LL.M. programs is a big deal. Anyone considering these courses should double check the BCI's approved list before enrolling. A degree that isn't recognized could mean wasted time and money.

Spread the word so others don't get caught off guard!
