Don't go here or your Himachal trip will be ruined

I went to Dharamkot in Himachal full of excitement. I'd seen tons of beautiful videos online, so I expected an amazing time. But the reality was quite different.

As an Indian, I felt like a third‑class citizen there. The cafés and restaurants treated me as if I were a beggar who couldn't pay, even though I was just another customer.

Several places even turned us away. When we finally got a seat somewhere else, they took ages to serve our order. It hurt even more to see Israeli tourists getting their food before us, even though we had ordered the same dish earlier.

At first I brushed it off with a 'Chalo, ho jata hai', but seeing it repeatedly really ruined my mood.

Dharamshala was a huge disappointment for me as well. Nothing felt pristine or special - just a sea of noisy tourists and no local vibe. It felt completely Delhi‑fied. Very let‑down.

Why is India letting a foreign community take over? The locals should stand up. It feels like a repeat of British colonisation.

In June we ordered ginger tea in Dharamkot, and a few minutes later two white guys arrived and got their ginger tea and tarts before us.

Similarly in 2023, a bakery upstairs was offering Indian cooking classes but refused to let Indians join. The place was quite big, maybe a German bakery, located on the left as you head down towards Bhagsu Falls from Dharamkot.
It feels awful to be treated like outsiders in our own country.

Atithi Devo Bhava (The guest is like God) - I guess it doesn\'t work for paying customers. :)

Yes, I didn't even try to enter any Israeli‑run cafés, but it was surprising to see so many Israelis around. They walked into shops with a sense of entitlement. I never saw them being polite with anyone. I wonder why locals put up with it. I despise those Israelis treating our own countrymen like second‑class citizens! They have ruined parts of Goa and Himachal. Everyone knows why they are here... drugs. It's infuriating that neither locals nor authorities take strong action to drive these junkies out.

This is the first time I\'m hearing it - thanks for the heads‑up. I feel deeply offended seeing a particular nationality getting undue importance here while the locals are treated poorly. I\'d definitely steer clear of sharing any space with them.

How can they do this in our own country??

Why go there when you\'re not welcomed? There are many places in India where people would receive you with folded hands! It\'s always money over nation for many businesses and tourists as well.

Haha, once you understand people from the Fatherland, you\'ll see why the world dislikes them.
