Anyone familiar with this hair oil? It's basically a blend of various herbs packed in a glass bottle. You add an oil of your choice - coconut oil is recommended - and let it sit for 2 days; the colour turns red. Supposedly it lasts 4-5 years if you keep topping up with oil.

Would love to hear if anyone has tried it and what their experience was.

I'm a 26-year-old female, oily scalp with occasional itchiness, especially in summer.

Hey, I'm from Kerala and I've never seen this before; I don't think many people use it.

Tanmay

Why would you need this if you already have an oily scalp? Adding oil to itchiness can lead to dandruff.

I'm from Kerala and this isn't how traditional Kerala oils are prepared. You can't just toss herbs into oil and call it done; it usually involves a long, multi-day process. My mother and grandmother still make it occasionally.

You can find these in Ayurvedic shops in Tamil Nadu. I only used it when I was a child, so I can't give a detailed review. It has a strong smell, so it's best not to wear it out.

Michael

I have never seen this before. My grandmother makes oil from scratch.

OP, did you pick this up from any Munaar or Kodaikanal tourist-spot shops?

Ananya

It's not just Kerala; I also found it in Araku.

Vikas

I ruined my straight, silky hair with this herb oil. It did reduce hair loss, but my hair became extremely frizzy.

Suraj

Don't use it; it will make you itchy after a day.
