I'm 26, working remotely from a Tier-2 city with a net income of over 1 crore. I lead a quiet, comfortable life and spend my free time on niche hobbies like sim racing, 3D printing, and cooking.

My parents found a profile of a girl who is an absolute 10/10 with a high-glam social life. I feel she's way out of my league and our lifestyles wouldn't click (not an issue with the city, I don't mind relocating to any metro).

How do I tell her parents (or mine) without sounding like I have low self‑esteem?

Dilip

Bro, you earn 1 crore; you're out of her league.

Monica

Say you're planning to quit your job next year. If you can't afford her high-glam lifestyle, her family will likely reject you themselves.

Irfan

Wow, it's rare to find someone into 3D printing. I also do jewellery design, build server racks, run a full‑scale server at home, and dabble in precision electronics and digital art. Nice to meet you.

Manish

Talk to your parents and be upfront that your values probably won't match in the long run.

Shanta

Just tell them she's not your type, which seems to be the case.

Imtiaz

Just say you don't think your lifestyles will match and it could lead to arguments later.

A surefire way to get rejected is to tell them you were laid off and the job market is tough, so you're struggling to find another job. That will make her parents turn you down instantly.

Anita

Earning 1 crore and thinking a club‑going, gorgeous girl is out of your league is foolish. She'll likely accept the marriage because of your money, but you'll have to deal with the aftermath.

Vishal

Tell your parents that your lifestyles don't match. If they suggest either side can adjust, point out that the current generation isn't keen on making such big compromises, and they might understand.
