I really need advice. I don't have anyone to reach out to right now. My boyfriend and I have been dating for years, and today we went out for dinner. We got into an argument and I saw a side of him that made me fear for my life. He broke my phone, dragged me multiple times, and pushed me around. I have scratches on my hand that still hurt. I know some people might say this isn't "that severe", but I feel extremely shaken and helpless. What scares me more is that he seemed to think it was okay. This happened near my PG, and I'm pretty sure there are CCTV cameras around that may have captured everything. I don't want my parents to know right now, but I want to understand if I can take legal action against him and what my options are. I also don't have access to my phone, so I'm typing this on my laptop.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or knows what steps I should take next? I'd really appreciate any guidance.

Prakash

Gradually become distant and let him lose interest. Some men don't handle break‑ups well, so keep interactions minimal and have an escape plan ready.

Yamini

Break up right away, inform close friends, and file a complaint if you think he may cause more trouble.

Bhavana

First of all, nobody deserves this. Respect yourself, break up with that low‑life, go no‑contact and move on. If he tries anything crazy, sue him.

Akash

No amount of physical aggression can be balanced by his good moments. When things are good, they're good, but when they turn bad they become ugly, and you can't control that. Dump him. If you ever feel you're wavering, remember this.

Varunesh

This is physical abuse. Cut all contact, document your injuries, and file a complaint – it's assault. Do not go back under any circumstances.

James

Document your injuries with a medical certificate. If there were witnesses, that's solid evidence. Try to obtain the CCTV footage and go to the nearest police station to file an FIR, or call 112.

Manish

I'm really sorry you had to face this. Keep documenting everything. Visit a doctor, get a medical certificate with details and photos of your injuries – that'll help when you lodge an FIR. Verify if the nearby CCTV cameras are working and note their locations and numbers. Don't approach the owners directly; they're obliged to hand over the footage and might delete it otherwise.

I was in a similar spot; the police told me my case was weak without a medical certificate, so I didn't file. I later regretted that decision.

Vandana

Break up, sue him, collect evidence of scars, CCTV footage, everything, and get a good lawyer.

Shalini

Report him to the police and end the relationship.
