The real gains from FTAs show up gradually over the years. Even though foreign markets have opened up to Indian products like textiles and auto parts, it will take some time for Indian exporters to break into those markets and start earning profits. Trade agreements don't give quick returns; they just open the channels. Now it's up to Indian private companies to make good use of them.
