I am 30 years old. I have been having severe stomach and lower back pain during my periods for the past two months. I never had any of these before. The bleeding is not going well, and the colour has also changed. Why is it happening like this? I have been taking calcium and antibiotics for two months. Is that the reason?

There are many reasons for menstrual pain. In fact, whatever the reason, it is a kind of health indicator. This pain occurs in those who ovulate on time. However, if it is too much, it is a problem. This can be due to excessive bleeding, clots. Otherwise, get checked for problems like adenomyosis, fibroids, and endometriosis in the uterus.

The pain can be reduced to a large extent with paracetamol tablets. But if you feel that a dose beyond that is required, it is better to get a scan. If there is no problem, it can be reduced with some types of medications. If there are other problems, treatment is required.

Regarding change in the colour of menstrual blood, this is normal as you age. Sometimes it is dark red, then it is normal, viscous... and so on. Sometimes, however, each day of the month can look different. It does not have to come in the same order and the same way for everyone. Changes in these are natural depending on age and time. If there are no uterine problems, do not pay much attention to such minor things.

Using calcium and antibiotics for a few days will have no effect on the colour of the menstrual period. Try to get more rest, keep warm, and use paracetamol. Most of the time it will decrease. However, if there is no result, consult a doctor.
