How does Amul get 200g paneer for ₹990 from milk that costs ~₹120 for 2L?

They're operating at massive scale... even their cow milk is priced around ₹26‑27 because of that.

We can easily get about 200 g of paneer from just 1 L of buffalo milk, so I'm not sure what you're seeing.

I'm not sure, but I think buffalo milk is more common in India than cow milk, and their raw material cost differs from what we pay.

Scale matters. You pay retail price for milk, but Amul purchases it in bulk at a rock‑bottom rate and uses efficient machinery. It's all about scale and economics.

When I use Amul Taaza, I get about 150‑170 g of paneer from two 500 ml packets.
