Sunscreen recs for harsh sun (tret skin)

I'm on tretinoin, so my skin is super sensitive right now and the sun feels brutal. I live in Delhi NCR where the UV gets crazy, especially in summer. I'm out in the sun around 10‑11 am, then 1:30‑3 pm, and sometimes in the evening, so I have to reapply about three times a day.

The problem is I don't trust most Indian sunscreens; they just don't seem to protect properly. I also can't afford Korean or European ones daily because a 50 ml bottle disappears in about two weeks.

I've already tried Fae Skin sunscreen and it peeled badly, Neutrogena Sheer which wrecked my barrier, and FormularX Vitamin C sunscreen that didn't feel protective at all.

My budget is around 600‑700 rupees max, so I need something I can keep buying without breaking the bank. I tried covering my face with a scarf, but I can't breathe and it messes up my skincare routine.

Please suggest sunscreens that have actually worked for you in harsh sun, not just for indoor use—especially if you're on tret or have sensitive skin.

I feel a bit embarrassed recommending sunscreens again here; half the comments I've made in the past year are about pharmacy brands.

Sunita

Since you're on tret and stepping out in harsh sun, most Indian or Asian sunscreens won't hold up. European sunscreens are the only reliable option, but they're usually pricey and hard to find within a 600‑700 rupee range.

I'm on adapalene with oily, sensitive skin. I'm currently using UV Doux. I've tried Beauty of Joseon before, but UV Doux is a better option for me price‑wise and it gives the matte finish I prefer.

Photostable SPF 80 – dermatologist‑recommended, especially for skin that's had laser treatments.

Rajendra

Minimalist fluid or any pharmacy sunscreen works fine. I've used tret too, so I suggest extra protection like a UV umbrella, scarf or mask, and limit outdoor activities as much as possible, especially during peak hours.

Saloni

LA Shield, Eclipse, UV Doux – go for silicone‑based ones only. Did your dermatologist not recommend a sunscreen for tret? Please let me know if you're using one prescribed by a dermatologist.

Some affordable recommendations I've seen here: Ekran Soft, Sunheal Hydra, LA Shield Pollution Protect, Reequil Ultra Matte, UV Doux, Sunhalt, Sunstop, Acne UV, Photostable Gold, Photon Hydra 360. They're all pretty sweat‑proof.

Jatin

After your skin is on retinoids it isn't automatically more sensitive to the sun. Still, a hybrid sunscreen with both mineral and chemical filters is a good choice. I've researched the Photon range – dermatologists recommend it and it looks solid. I haven't bought it yet, but I prefer mineral filters when I'll be sweating. Zinc also has anti‑inflammatory benefits, which is a bonus.

Pranay

It's odd that nobody mentioned carrying an umbrella and wearing a wide‑brimmed hat.
