When my friend learned his contact worked at BlackRock

I went to a hackathon with a mate and we bumped into a guy from BlackRock. The second my friend realised where he worked, he started treating him like some final boss of tech. He kept asking for his LinkedIn, Twitter, GitHub, resume, how many LeetCode problems he'd solved, his Codeforces rating, the tech stack he uses - the whole lot.

The BlackRock guy just answered everything calmly and walked away.

Right after he left I asked, "Doesn't BlackRock pay kinda low?" My friend gave me a look like I'd just smashed his career dreams. Never seen anyone go from worship mode to an existential crisis that quick.
