Twitter API costs a hundred bucks a month, I made an alternative that costs just fourteen cents per thousand requests

Twitter's official API pricing is really harsh on indie developers, you know * **Free tier** is basically useless, you can only read fifteen hundred tweets a month * **Basic** plan costs a hundred dollars a month for ten thousand tweets * **Pro** plan costs five thousand dollars a month * **Enterprise** plan costs forty two thousand dollars a month And on top of all that, the approval process takes ages So I built a pay per use alternative, no monthly fees, you only pay for what you use **Pricing comparison** is pretty cool Twitter Official Basic versus My API * Monthly fee is zero, you save a hundred dollars * Reading a thousand tweets costs fourteen cents, which is way cheaper * Reading a thousand profiles costs sixteen cents * Writing a thousand tweets is not available on the Basic plan but costs two twenty five on mine * Approval process is instant, no waiting around * You get ten thousand free credits when you sign up **What it covers** is pretty much everything * You can search tweets with filters * Get user profiles, followers, and who they are following * Get timelines, tweets, replies, likes, and media * You can write posts, retweet, like, send DMs, and bookmark * You can also get lists, communities, and topics **No subscriptions**, if you make five hundred requests this month and none the next, you only pay for five hundred requests I built it using FastAPI and MongoDB, it is already up and running Is anyone else fed up with Twitter API pricing, how are you guys dealing with it, I can share the link if you are interested [https://www.apitwitter.com/](https://www.apitwitter.com/)

How does this even scale, does Twitter not have ways to stop people from crawling their site

As a dev community, we are naturally curious about how you actually built this thing  Otherwise it just sounds like marketing stuff meant to promote yourself rather than something we can actually learn from
