Big thanks to this community - your posts made our trip a breeze. I'm paying it forward with my own experience.

We've been on safaris in South Africa, but Ranthambore was a whole different ball game. We travelled with seniors and a toddler, so I've added some tips for mixed groups.

GETTING THERE
Two easy options:
1. Train to Sawai Madhopur station - just 30 minutes from the park
2. Road - a smooth 3-hour drive from Jaipur

WHEN TO GO - BEST SEASON FOR SIGHTINGS
No clear answer, but summer (March-June) seems to offer the highest tiger sighting probability. We experienced that firsthand.

However, October to December is great too - the weather is fantastic, the park is lush, and sightings are still strong.

BOOKING - READ THIS FIRST
Book safaris before booking your resort. Use the official website (link in comment below). Don't rely on Google results or ask your resort to book last-minute - it's a scam.

GYPSY OR CANTER - WHICH SAFARI VEHICLE?
Two options:
1. Gypsy - a smaller, open jeep. More intimate experience.
2. Canter - a larger, taller vehicle. Better sighting angles, especially in dense terrain.

SAFARI TIMINGS
Two safaris daily:
1. Morning: 6:00 AM - 9:30 AM
2. Afternoon: 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM

UNDERSTANDING THE ZONES (VERY IMPORTANT)
The park has 10 zones. Zones 1-5 are core zones, 6-10 are buffer zones. Zones 2, 3, and 4 have the highest sighting probability.

Our experience:
- Zone 3, afternoon: one tiger spotted at a distance
- Zone 5: nothing
- Zone 2, morning: multiple tiger sightings

AFTER BOOKING - DRIVER DETAILS & WHAT TO EXPECT
Once you book, you'll get a WhatsApp confirmation. A day before your safari, your ticket will be updated with your driver's name and vehicle number. Call your driver to confirm pickup or head to Ganesh Dham.

WHERE TO STAY - OUR EXPERIENCE
We stayed at Pugmark Resort - great hospitality, flexibility, and food. Medium-luxury category.

PRACTICAL TIPS - ESPECIALLY FOR SUMMER
Afternoon summer safaris are brutal. Bring 1.5 litres of water per person and don't underestimate the heat.

ON THE GUIDES
Most guides focus on locating tigers, but one guide was passionate about the park's history, ecology, and flora.

A NOTE ON BEHAVIOUR - PLEASE READ
When tigers are spotted, please be quiet, stay calm, and respectful. These are wild animals in their natural habitat.

TL;DR
- Book safari slots first, then accommodation
- Best sighting odds: summer (March-June)
- Zones 2, 3, and 4 give you the highest tiger sighting probability
- Gypsy = personal experience. Canter = height advantage
- Morning safari: ~6-9:30 AM. Afternoon: ~3-6:30 PM
- Call your driver immediately when you get their details.
- Confirm pickup or head to Ganesh Dham
- 1.5L water minimum per person for afternoon summer safaris
- Be quiet and respectful when you spot tigers.
