Will I regret dropping PCB for Commerce with Maths

So I chose PCB in class 11 because I liked physics and biology, and I kept telling myself that MBBS was my childhood dream.

But after just one week of class 11 I realised the physics they teach is just useless concepts for me and the biology is way too detailed. I talked to my teachers and parents and they both said I shouldn't continue on a path I don't enjoy, especially since I've always been good at studies and was even thinking about NEET.

So I've decided to switch to Commerce, which was my second choice when I selected streams. If I hadn't cleared NEET, I would have considered B.Com only (after science‑bio you either go for NEET or get stuck in the BSc‑MSc‑PhD loop). But a commerce teacher at my school told me either be confident in bio or just switch to commerce – "do naav par pair mat rakh".

I don't mind commerce as long as it gives me a business mindset and more freedom than PCB. My parents say I can do whatever I want, but I don't want to make them spend too much on my studies or rely on them for too long.

Please guide.

Commerce itself offers solid career options, so don't worry. Just aim for good marks and target reputable colleges like DU for graduation, or IPMAT / CAT for MBA.

Unless you are absolutely sure about a medical career, switch to Commerce with Maths. Commerce offers far better career prospects, and adding maths opens even more opportunities. (Speaking as someone who did Commerce without maths.)

PCB isn't a strong career combo. Since you're not planning PCMB, you're making the right call. Commerce with Maths is a great choice—don't skip maths at any cost.

Definitely switch unless you're truly passionate about becoming a doctor. PCB can feel like a dead‑end—you either become a doctor or end up doing something you don't enjoy. Good alternatives exist, but they're limited here in India.

No, in the future you'll literally thank yourself for this choice.

Everyone thinks the grass is greener on the other side, and that's fine, but it also brings doubts like "what if I had chosen that?" We all question every decision at some point.

Choosing PCB or Commerce is up to you—both have strong prospects, though both sectors are seeing high layoffs right now. I'd suggest PCB with Economics as an additional subject; it could be a lifesaver if you still lean towards PCB.

Remember, if you don't clear NEET you can still go into psychology—therapists are in high demand these days. You could also consider Microbiology, Biotechnology or Bioinformatics; those fields blend biology with tech and have corporate opportunities.

Commerce is great too. The finance world has always been strong and will stay that way. So do whatever feels right, but know that you might think about your choice later. (Though I'd recommend Commerce if you want a more relaxed school life.)
