I saw an article in The Hindu about how the 2027 census will influence women's reservation in the Lok Sabha and trigger state delimitation. I need to reread it because I missed many details.

Looks like a vacancy has opened up in the Lok Sabha, guess what.

Saritha

That means more taxpayers' money going to MPs' salaries.

Shalini

Lok Sabha already gets chaotic; with 800 members I can't imagine what will happen—maybe even physical fights.

Irfan

This move feels disastrous for India. It seems short‑sighted for the cabinet to copy Australia and European nations that were already financially strong before pushing gender parity. With our massive population and limited resources, we need focused decision‑making to keep up with China. Diluting Lok Sabha seats will only set us back.

Dhruv

I can't wrap my head around reserving territorial seats by gender. For SC/ST it makes sense if they're a majority in an area, but how will we find constituencies where women are the majority or even a plurality?

Imtiaz

Even with a 33% women quota, more than half the seats will probably go to PTI allies—just the harsh truth.

Aarohi

A huge chunk of taxpayers' money will be wasted on MPs who just rubber‑stamp without any vision, becoming a liability for the country.
