I'm 25, preparing for CA, and my life has completely fallen apart in the last one month.

On Jan 6th, 2026, I lost my father.

He was everything for us — the only earning member, the person who handled all responsibilities, the one who made sure we never felt unsafe. I never imagined I would have to face life without him this early.

We didn't even get time to grieve properly.

There was no insurance. The hospital bill itself came to around ₹3 lakhs.

And then the real shock started.

After his passing, I found out he had taken multiple personal loans and a home loan. On top of that, he had lent money to others, but we have no records, no proof, nothing. People who owe us money have completely disappeared.

There are also property disputes that I don't fully understand yet.

And now, everything has landed on me.

Lenders come to my house almost every single day. They stand outside, call repeatedly, ask for money we simply don't have. Every knock on the door gives me anxiety.

I'm just a student. I have zero income.

Total loans are around ₹16 lakhs.

I sit with my books, trying to study, but my mind just doesn't work anymore. I keep thinking about the debt, my mother, the future... everything feels like it's collapsing at once.

I always believed clearing CA would change my life. I still believe that. But right now, I don't even know how to survive till then.

I'll be honest — I've had some really dark thoughts recently. The kind that scare me when I look back. The only reason I'm still here is because of my mother. I can't leave her alone in this situation.

I feel trapped. Helpless. Exhausted.

If anyone has been through something like this or has any guidance, please help me:

* How do I deal with lenders legally when I have no income?
* What are my options in a situation like this?
* Are there any ways to get temporary financial relief or support?

Even a small piece of advice would mean a lot right now.

I just don't want to give up.

When my chacha ji passed, my brother had just passed 12th and exactly same scenario.

let me give you step by step process how he handled it:

1. Deny and refuse all the loans ,tell them you don't have any money now, nor in the future expect anything, take help from police if there's any issues, they gave unsecured loans so it's their headache now.

2. if you don't live in the property, for house loan, banks have insurance for same thing.

3. Ask money from people by being sweet and guillt trap them. tell them to give atleast something. like one person had 3 lacs so we asked him to give 50 k first to get groceries for few months and things like that.

4. Be Besharam.

5. see, Jaskirat we are mard, from the day we are born We are supposed to sacrifice for our family.

6. stay strong brother, message me if you face any problem, call me anytime.

7. get a job or internship where you can get money like 18k , but don't stop studying.

Is there anyone in your family who can explain these land disputes?

You don't have to pay loan since your dad's not there. It's not your responsibility. Forget about recovery of money your dad lent. Solve these land disputes and sell smallest piece of land for time being. Use that money for expenses of your family and clear CA.

You are not liable to pay for your father loans
And if it's unsecured debt just take a chill pill and move to another area temporary

Check with the bank/NBFC from where your father took the home loan, it is very rare that they did not took the insurance against the loan.

Loans without proof is not valid incase they threaten u tell them u don't have proof and I am not liable to pay

In case if situation worsen call the police

Incase of secured loan u r not liable to pay for it should come from ur father assets

Check if ur father had life insurance

Make sure to keep all your documents ready

Have succession certificate ready just in case

been there bro.. it's a tough and dark phase, but hang in there. this phase will also pass.

1. max loans these days have liability insurance with them.. check out by calling bank or by logging in the app on phone..

2. forget about unsecured loans for a while, ik the recovery agents are PITA but visit bank and check for insurance for the secured loans if any.. if not, give application for stalling EMI for few months, it may provide you some cushion.

3. what was the reason of death ? all the debit and credit cards have insurance but only for accidental death.

4. check for PMJJBY insurance, its compulsory. so, uncle must be having it in any of the savings bank account.

5. check for PMSBY insurance, if accidental death.

6. check mails, sms, wp etc for any monetary conversations. you may find something which may help.

any term insurance, lic etc which you are unaware might help you.

Bro for homeloan I can say discuss with managers or senior management if you can approach and make them understand your situation everyone is employee for a bank so they can maybe make something worked out or else I am not sure what is the success but if they come to appropriate your property try to get a stay order from court.

If you got any property, pledge it and take loan against it to repay all the loans.

Everything else is secondary
