What a brilliant character arc. We start cheering for the hero, then a reality check hits, and we realise the hero ends up worse than the villain. It shatters the line between right and wrong. Amazing.

With a good script, even Sid Malhotra (Shershah) looks like an awesome actor.

But actors like Govinda or Ranveer (Rocky‑Rani) can make a bad script worth watching. Varun and Sid never shine without a solid script – they're not great actors on their own.

Varun had many chances in Baby John, Coolie and Judwaa, but he didn't deliver. In those films, Govinda could have made them enjoyable, or Ranveer could have given a Simmba‑style performance.

Ujjwal

I was disappointed Varun didn't take on roles like this. The emotional intensity is huge, and in this scene both of them go to the next level.

Bhavya

There's a scene where Nawaz's character says his last words to his mother – it really touched me.

I don't get why it has such a low rating on Letterboxd. Revenge movies are my favourite, and Badlapur is definitely one of my top picks, no matter where you're from. Sure, there are a few flaws, but the film is solid and grounded enough to overlook them. I loved it and it's definitely in my top 10 revenge films.

Kiran

Varun's character gets a second chance, while Nawaz's gets a shot at redemption for an unintended sin. It's a powerful resolution for both, and we, the audience, are left wondering who the real monster is.
