7 LPA offer but earning more - is tech still worth it?

Hey, I'm currently earning about ₹2‑3 lakhs a month from a non‑tech job, and I just got a 7 LPA on‑campus offer from a Bangalore tech firm (final year student). I'm confused whether staying in tech is worth it in the long run, especially for salary and growth. How hard is it to reach ₹2‑3 lakhs per month in tech? Any guidance would help—I'm trying to decide the best career path. I'm not focused on short‑term gains; think about the next 5 years in tech.

Vijay

No one is getting even a single offer; they're only seeing 2‑2 packages.

My previous post was deleted due to a wrong tag. I've added the correct tag now. Let me know if anything's still off before I delete it; this is really important!

If you want genuine advice, we need to know what's giving you the ₹2‑3 lakhs and how sustainable that is.

Kalpana

Please resign so the role goes to someone who truly needs it. We're in a job crisis.

Neha

Stick to what you're doing. The prestige and demand for engineers have faded; we're being paid low.

Aarohi

It depends on the guarantee. If you're sure your music venture can last, go for it; otherwise keep a backup.

The comment section here is quite messy.

OP, please keep working on your music business. Reaching ₹2‑3 lakhs in tech isn't impossible, but hiring is slowing down and moving from 7 LPA to 30 LPA will likely need 2‑3 job changes, taking about 3‑4 years. By then, if you've grown your music venture, it could earn more than tech. If you can handle the risk, go for it.

Why not keep making music on the side? Tech roles can scale—10 years of experience can fetch 60‑70 LPA. Can music give you similar earnings? Tech jobs aren't always secure; is your music career secure?

Advik

What about continuing your music journey alongside the job? Tech jobs are usually less stressful.

Nitin

You're lucky; I've been in tech for two years and I'm barely making a lakh per month.
