I did a full body checkup yesterday and my lipid profile looks alarming. How can I bring it under control?

A bit about me: I'm a 30‑year‑old male, 5'8" tall, 72 kg, body fat about 21 %. I lead an active lifestyle. I used to hit the gym four times a week, but I've missed the past month because of a time crunch. I still try to walk around 10 K steps each day. Please help.

Is your diet the problem?

Ashok

Cut down carbs. Cut down refined oil, maida and sugar. Increase protein significantly. Walk at least 10 minutes after lunch and dinner.

Akash

Seems like everyone's blood work on this subreddit is alarming.

Dhruv

Walk for at least 10‑15 minutes after every meal.

Menon

Sab kuch all‑time high chal raha hai, bhai, tera toh.

Bharat

Lose 10 kg while maintaining muscle mass.

Malini

The best way to lower these numbers is to increase your fibre intake – aim for at least 35 g daily and you should see results in a month. (Fibre can make you a bit gassy.)

Krishna

Increase soluble fibre foods in your diet and stop eating anything with saturated fat. Limit total saturated fat to less than 10 g per day.

You don't necessarily need a doctor; a few diet tweaks can fix it easily. Exercise will help raise HDL but won't lower LDL much. Saturated fat is the main culprit for LDL. Also, if possible, get checked for fatty liver as it can raise LDL and cholesterol.

Gauri

Cut down carbs, take omega‑3, try intermittent fasting, and go zero sugar.

Rekha

No worries, just start on statins and it will come down!
