Sorry for the title, please hear me out. If you want to save my brother, this was my home just before JEE Advanced 2025.

I passed my 12th on 06 June 2024 and gave my first JEE Advanced attempt in 2025, which means technically my attempts are over according to the rules. But I want to ask the community if anyone else has faced what I went through. Last year, just 10-15 days before the exam, there was a total blackout in my area and on 07 May 2025, during a military operation, my house was destroyed by mortar shelling. I lost everything I owned and was fighting for my life while others were studying. I still gave the exam and missed an IIT seat by just 7 marks despite the trauma.

Tell me honestly, if this is not inequality, how can the education system be this heartless? I worked my way up from nothing and scored 99.16 percentile in JEE Mains 2026 despite this tragedy, but the Advanced committee is ignoring me. I have been emailing them every single day for a year, explaining my situation, and I even filled the form now, but every time I get the same automated reply saying I'm not eligible and nothing can be done at this stage. Where were these people when I was crying for help for a whole year? Why did they not respond then? I am drowning in a mental breakdown and if anything happens to me I will blame our education system, especially the JAB 2026 committee. I really do not know how to raise my voice anymore. Please help me, guys. I am being shut out because of a technicality even after proving my merit with 99.16 percentile. What should I do now? Is there any way to get justice against this system?

If you have the courage to take legal action, go ahead; otherwise nothing will change.

I don't have a direct solution, but I'm upvoting and leaving this comment in good wishes hoping you get the help you need.
I'm really sorry you had to go through this... I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Sandeep

Believe in God, brother. If you lost your chance because of unfair circumstances, life has something better planned for you.
I can only support you, because they won't read your mails. As the other comments suggest, you may need to take legal action, but given your condition I understand you might not afford it.
Trust me, however big the loss seems, if you stay hardworking you will succeed no matter what comes ahead.

Go to Twitter, they will help. Tag IIT Roorkee, PMO, Aditya Raj Kaul and others.
Then send the post link in a DM; I'll forward it to others.

Doing it here won't change anything.

It may sound harsh, but bro, let it go. Keeping on thinking about it won't help your mental health; it will only get worse.
If life is giving you hardships, it's trying to make you stronger.
I know you're a warrior and no matter how tough the path, you will fight and win in the end.

Kartik

It's sad to see the government focusing on SC/ST/OBC categories while ignoring victims of war, tragedies and accidents. All the best, bro ✨

Pradeep

I hear you, OP, and I'm in the same boat. I went through the same situation last year.

It's just sad that the government didn't even pay an ounce of attention to students from border areas, especially from our state.

What the government and the public saw was just 3-4 days of conflict. What they forget is that we were told to prepare for something serious days before, around 23 April. Those restless days and nights, when we constantly feared that something could happen at any moment, and the trauma after the war was just ignored. It was really difficult for us to study from April 22 to May 10, and that's a long period.

Also outsiders simply don't seem to care. In fact even our peers showed no empathy. They were celebrating the situation and saying "Karachi port ka oudhna" while we were literally scared for our lives in complete blackout.

I know the authorities won't change the rule for us specifically, but you genuinely deserve a second chance, OP. Hugs and wishes.

Madhav

Take this to court, because every year some students manage to appear for JEE Mains and Advanced when they can prove an NTA issue.
