UPSC coaching fraud

I'm not naming anyone, but please hear me out.

I was preparing for UPSC for many years. During that time I cleared Prelims multiple times and even wrote Mains several times. But because of serious family problems I had to quit my preparation.

After that I started looking for a teaching job. After many months I finally got a job at a big online coaching institute.

But from day one, something felt off.

They kept pressuring me to sell their courses. For example, if a student paid ₹1000, they would tell me to convince them to buy a ₹2000 test series. They said, "It's your duty to sell. You'll get commission."

I felt uncomfortable. Some students really didn't need those courses – they were already doing well. Still the institute specifically targeted individual students.

They trained us to manipulate them.

They told me to ask difficult questions so that students would feel insecure and think they needed the test series. The goal was not to help students – it was to make them buy more.

That really disturbed me.

Then one day they made another offer. They said if I wrote content for them for free, they would publish it under my name.

I trusted them.

I spent three months writing content for them. But when the time came to publish, they released it under the coaching institute's name. I didn't get any credit.

That broke me.

Now I'm thinking about leaving this job... but I don't have any other option. UPSC is the only thing I know.

Right now I feel completely lost and hopeless.

Why is this getting downvoted?

Chiranjit

Do you receive a regular monthly salary?

Nath

This needs to be pinned.

I completely get it. I filled the interest form of Prepp IAS. They kept calling me repeatedly even after I told them I'm not interested. Most of the salespeople were current students talking about their preparation. But they harass you like regular credit‑card or real‑estate agents. It's horrible.

Jagdish

When they published it under the coaching's name, did you speak up? Also, if you're leaving, could you at least mention the name of the institute?

Juhi

Please share the name of the coaching institute as well. This is an anonymous forum, so you can speak freely.
