I really miss the days when we had RJ45 for fast internet - no signal drops. Those were the good old days when audio in and out were separate ports, so I could unplug the mic for privacy. Now I'm stuck with those hyper-specific Thunderbolt cables; they're just e-waste. They even removed the Kensington lock, so you can't lock your laptop at a cafe and go for a walk.

Jokes apart, I get why folks are angry about losing USB-A, HDMI and the SD-card slot. Some manufacturers have brought them back, except USB-A. Apple learned its lesson, but Dell's XPS line hasn't.

My 8-year-old Asus still sports 2 USB ports, VGA, HDMI, Type-C, RJ45, a 3.5 mm jack, an SD-card slot and a Kensington lock.

A single port on the latest MacBook offers more bandwidth than everything else combined. I'm not defending it, but having the option of one ultra-high-speed link is better than juggling several slower ones.

The one on top is the older MacBook Pro.

My machine has HDMI, four Thunderbolt ports and a MagSafe.

I'm not familiar with the ports on the laptop below - can anyone explain?

So they can sell accessories to connect different stuff.

Wow, the number of ports on laptops has really dropped.
