Should I start preparing for government exams? I'm worried about the risk – what if I don't clear them within three years? These are my prime years.

Who gets to decide what's your prime years?

What's your motivation and ultimate goal for preparing for government exams or any exams? What do you hope to achieve?

Shivam

Government exam can be a trap, bro. If you're preparing, also work on side‑by‑side skills.

Jatin

Earn money, save it, or if you're abroad, maybe think of leaving the country.

Arif

It's not a value‑for‑money deal.

My advice is to develop skills during college while also preparing for SSC CGL. If you're truly serious and don't want to risk your future, even 1 hour a day is enough for the exam. You have three years, you can manage it.

If you really want to try, go for it buddy, all the best.

Never put all your eggs in one basket. Government jobs offer long‑term security, but they're tough to crack. With your scores, you should definitely pursue a regular degree and prepare for government service on the side. Keep your options open; at this age you can juggle multiple things. The traditional job market—engineering, IT, corporate roles—is sluggish right now, so a government job can be a solid backup and vice‑versa, depending on luck.
