Loving Dhurandhar due to lack of good recent films

Honestly I think people are loving Dhurandhar because we havent had a really good Hindi film in a while

I feel like the reason why people are loving Dhurandhar so much is because over the past couple of years there has not been a good Hindi film release. Of course there have been commercial hits like Pathaan, Jawaan, Bhool Bhulaiya, etc. but none of these films were truly great. Dhurandhar was one movie which after so long was true to its story and genuinely engaging. But I think thats the bare minimum a movie should do. The India - Pakistan spy movies have been going on for decades now, dont you think its time for some change? To some extent I understand that Indian audiences resonate more with patriotic content but still I think filmmakers should try to come up with fresher ideas. Stree was a pretty cool movie imo, a cool idea and amazing cast. No hate to Dhurandhar obviously Im very proud to say that such a movie has been made but I think we need to develop more out of the box ideas and try to drift away from these spy movies. Bollywood is such a huge industry and I think filmmakers have a responsibility to create content not only to please and make money but also to curate true cinema culture inside our beautiful nation. The film prioritizes a content driven narrative over larger than life heroism, supported by powerful music. The storyline also deals with the Pakistan conflict, which feels more relevant especially after the Pahalgam attack.

A movie that's over 3.5 hours long is engaging enough to keep people wanting for more. Not many films have done that in last few years. Thats why the movie worked. Political allegiance and jingoism is a part of it but the movie is way more than that and even without those aspects, the film would have worked. It might have struggled to bypass censor though.

Honestly there have been good movies but people just dont watch those. Dhurandhar is one of those who found rare success among all. Movies like Vikram Vedha, Soorarai Pottru didnt collect much. Massy movie had huge success in last 5 years and Dhurandhar is just one of them but with decent story.

When you take out the perceived political or patriotic sentiment, Dhurandhar still stands as a great movie. It doesnt seem like an average, preachy war movie that leaves you feeling fatigued and sells an unrealistic narrative. It was well-made and unfolded like a novel. We see the protagonist struggle, and theres no larger-than-life force shielding him - the motivations and end goals of all characters are clear, the payoff is good, you dont feel cheated after investing your time and money. Thats the kind of storywriting and direction we need going forward.

If we go by the meaning then even Pathaan and Ek tha Tiger and other India-Pak bhai-bhai stories are also propaganda. But apparently people didnt call that out until Dhurandhar came. Im not a stan for Dhurandhar but it was a really well made movie. The audience can genuinely see the efforts everyone involved in the film has taken. And I do not think Indians have any irrational hate towards Pakistanis, the hate is clearly coming from their constant meddling in our country by sponsoring terror attacks. Every one knows that their government supports these terrorists. But some section of our people still think that we can be good neighbors and some think that we are on the wrong side. Also Im not hating on their average citizens.
