To be fair, CSK did the best they could after fumbling the mega auction hard. These two were part of the best young talents available in the market and everyone wanted them. Also it isn't like amazing players were available in the mini-auctions this time. The only new signings who have truly impressed are Duffy, Connolly, Rizvi, Sarfaraz (underrated CSK W) and Shami (I may be missing a few names but that's it).

And 3 matches don't matter a lot in the grand scheme of things. RCB, MI and CSK have recovered from much, much worse situations to make the top 4.
