Title: Other side of UPSC
Post by: Shekar on Apr 01, 2026, 08:00 AM
Rinku Singh Rahi, a 2022 batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has quit his job, sparking big questions about the state's admin system.

In his resignation letter, Rahi says he wasn't given any posting or real responsibilities for a long time. He says he was kept in an "attached" role – getting a salary but no chance to serve the public.

He calls his decision moral, saying he had to step down because he could no longer work effectively within the system. He also alleges a "parallel system" is running in the state, undermining the constitution and stopping honest officers from doing their duty.

Sources say Rahi was sidelined after he took strict action as SDM. A video of him doing sit‑ups during a lawyers' protest in Shahjahanpur went viral, after which the government attached him and didn't give him a new posting.

Rahi is also known for exposing a 2009 scam, after which he survived a life‑threatening attack where he was shot seven times.

This isn't the other side of UPSC. UPSC only conducts exams. What we're seeing is the flipside of bureaucracy or the IAS.

An honest officer becomes a threat to the whole system, even to politicians. Whoever holds power wants to cling to it by any means and refuses to share.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused about the link between the 2009 and 2022 events.

The bigger picture is always grim. Bureaucrats get hammered for corruption, and then honest people like him, who want to improve society, get the short end of the stick from the government.

It's tough to be a good bureaucrat these days.

I've known this since the day he scored 110 marks in his interview – the government isn't fit for officers like him. The state government prefers officers who spend time making reels, posting shallow motivational content, seeking attention with public stunts like inviting the CM to their wedding, and doing cringe‑worthy things just to gain popularity.

Isn't he the same officer who was shot multiple times in the face by the mafia for exposing a welfare scam? He also made news recently for doing sit‑ups in front of protesting lawyers because of a cleanliness lapse.

Obviously. Crime, politics and money don't appreciate people like that.

Taking six bullets to the face didn't shatter his vision for a better society, but working on the front lines of India's bureaucracy did. It shows there are many layers to this mess.

Damn man, I feel really sad for him. All his hard work and dream of doing good for society has gone in vain.
