It's really sad how he's been sidelined.
Give him the ball and he'll give you wickets – simple equation.
Even if his actual age is off by two years, it doesn't matter as long as he's performing. Bhuvi is still bowling at 145 km/h at 36. Shami was in good form before his injury. We can't bank on Harshit Rana so early.
Give him a chance in an overseas series. He's a wicket‑taking bowler who can break partnerships whenever needed. He's the GOAT of 50‑over World Cups and suits South African pitches perfectly.
I'd trust a one‑legged Shami over Prasidh or Harshit.
The problem is he's injury‑prone. We can't make him play the whole year. If we bring him back, it would only be just before the tournament.
Of course Shami himself would feel otherwise, but his injury concerns are too high right now. There's no doubt about his ability, yet with his injury history what do we do if he breaks down mid‑World Cup or right before it? The chances of that are higher than him staying fit, let's be honest. Loading his body with pills and injections to play through pain isn't the ideal solution. Those who back him over someone like Harshit Rana will be the first to blame the board and management when we lack a backup if Shami gets injured, or when we struggle to find decent fast bowlers five years down the line.
Fair point. You can't expect impact without giving him consistent chances.
He's the Indian ODI World Cup GOAT – second on the list of highest wicket‑takers in the WC!
Because he's a bowler, he's been treated without respect despite his ATG‑level performances. Fitness is a concern, but pick him for a series and see what happens! At the very least he deserves one final chance and a respectful send‑off. It's sad to see selectors give him the cold shoulder and issue contradictory statements about his fitness.
