Title: Body Sunscreen Reco
Post by: Vandana on Mar 28, 2026, 06:29 PM
I'm looking for a body sunscreen for this summer in Bangalore. I'm a guy and I have hair on my body, so anything that takes time to blend gets messy and irritating. I was using Vaseline SPF 30, but the fragrance is really strong and it's thick and messy. I need something that doesn't skimp on protection and can blend quickly, if not instantly. Help a man out, folks

The Nivea one works, but it's quite oily and greasy. You could go for the Vaseline one if you want a more cosmetically elegant texture, but if you'll be out in the sun for several hours, grab the Nivea one and remember to reapply

Wishcare one is alright. I've used it occasionally and it does the job well.

I went to Goa this February and used Chemist at Play body sunscreen. I didn't get even a slight tan.

Alright, let me sum it up for brown skin: we need a strong PA++++ (that's four plus signs) sunscreen with solid UVA protection, especially UVA1. In the picture, only Sunscoop comes close. Anything below SPF 50 (which gives a PPD of 16+) and weak UVA filters is a waste of money. Note: there's no perfect (even 8/10) body sunscreen in India for tanning protection. Sunscoop scores 7.5, the highest among body sunscreens available here.

Sunscoop is a good body sunscreen. For the face, go for pharma products. I use Photostable Gold – it's very good.

I've tried Vaseline SPF 30, Gluta Hya SPF 50, and I'm currently on Nivea SPF 50. Here's my review:

Vaseline SPF 30: Sticky, doesn't spread well, and I got a fair bit of tan. WNRP (1/5)

Nivea SPF 50: Second use. Sticky, leaves a white cast. Not a fan of the smell. Does the job though. WRP (3.5/5)

Gluta Hya SPF 50: Gel/cream texture. Leaves a weird residue, a fevicol‑like film on top which I don't like. It does the job though. WRP (4/5)

Even I want to know this for my two‑toned hands ;)

Not sure about the others, but that Nivea body lotion gave me a headache; I couldn't use it even on my legs because the fragrance was just too strong
