I've been testing new products for the last 10 months, aiming to get rid of a stubborn tan. I was heavily tanned and pigmented because I never used sunscreen and, having oily skin, I skipped moisturiser. I used to play sports outdoors a lot.
Now I've managed to clear about half the tan, but still a long way to go.
The products that gave the best results were:
- Kojic Acid 2 % (Derma Co)
- Niacinamide 10 % (Minimalist)
- Vitamin C 16 % (Minimalist)
- Glycolic Acid Toner 8 % (Minimalist)
The Fixderma lip balm and the Kojic Acid body lotion didn't make a difference.
I used Derma Co's Niacinamide moisturiser for oily skin, and my sunscreen was Minimalist Fluid plus the multivitamin version. I've stopped using the Dot & Key sunscreen now.

So, which things actually helped with your tan?
Besides sunscreen, what other stuff gave you the best results?
Girl, tell us what actually worked for your tan.
Any before‑after pictures to show?
New account, no before‑and‑after pics—yeah, right, totally believable.
What was your daily routine like?
Sounds like a Minimalist marketing ad to me.
How does the Conscious Chemist and Derma Co moisturiser perform?
Three packs of Tret? You only need a pea‑sized amount for the whole face—a little goes a long way. Do you use it as a regular moisturiser or something else?
Why are you using 0.05 % tret? Is it prescribed? Usually it's 0.025 % when given by a doctor, otherwise people take it on their own.
