Removing eggs from mid-day meals stops a big chunk of India from getting the protein they need early on. I just don't get why anyone would keep people malnourished and anemic. This forced vegetarianism is really hurting our appreciation of health, nutrition and fitness in India.

I'm kinda surprised to see some vegetarian states doing better than non-vegetarian ones, not gonna lie. Probably because non-veg states eat meat only occasionally, while people in veg states have dairy every day.
Rajasthan has one of the highest rates of vegetarianism, yet its protein intake is better than many other states.
There's no way the average Indian is getting 60 g of protein each day.

According to the source, only 261,746 households took part in the survey (see attached pic), while India has over 300 million households. That's less than 0.1 % of all households. How can such a tiny sample be used to represent the whole country?
We also can't ignore data-quality concerns. Many surveys face allegations of poor execution, with responses sometimes filled in arbitrarily by officials or field staff. If that's the case, it raises even more doubts about the reliability of the findings.

In my own house, my parents never get more than 40 gm of protein - I've seen it myself.
This is probably the dumbest and most false r/mapporncirclejerk material I've seen so far. I'm pretty sure the metric used was something like average height of natives, which has nothing to do with average protein intake.
