I went to a hackathon with a mate and we bumped into a guy from BlackRock. The second my friend realised where he worked, he started treating him like some final boss of tech. He kept asking for his LinkedIn, Twitter, GitHub, resume, how many LeetCode problems he'd solved, his Codeforces rating, the tech stack he uses - the whole lot.
The BlackRock guy just answered everything calmly and walked away.
Right after he left I asked, "Doesn't BlackRock pay kinda low?" My friend gave me a look like I'd just smashed his career dreams. Never seen anyone go from worship mode to an existential crisis that quick.
BlackRock is offering a freshers package of 18 LPA CTC. Is that low?
That's only true if you actually know what BlackRock does beyond just the pay.
I don't get why people put companies and their employees on a pedestal, yaar. It's disappointing how many things we still have to unlearn.
Screw BlackRock and everything it stands for.
Remember, he could lose his job tomorrow and be stuck at home. Some people need to learn a bit of self-respect.
The title kinda suggests your friend had no idea he was working at BlackRock.
BlackRock is basically a finance firm.
Lol, welcome to the real world - where some guys turn into gold-diggers the moment they meet a rich or successful person they've always dreamed of.
The title and the story don't really line up.
You're not being a good friend.
