Title: 9:30 am-9 pm marked as early log off by client
Post by: Nakul on Jun 23, 2026, 03:34 AM
Hi,

Our US client has told senior management that we are asking for an early log off at 9 pm. We have daily calls at 9:30 am and random unscheduled calls arranged by our lead. We work continuously from 9:30 am without proper breaks, so we can't even take a decent lunch. We log off at 9 pm and the client isn't happy. Is this the new normal? It doesn't stop there - a colleague who was serving notice was asked to work past 7 pm and was reported.

It depends on what your company promised the client and how many hours you're billing for.

No, it's not normal. Either speak up for yourself or switch. Generally, people who don't want or can't switch end up normalising this.

Sounds like a typical Lala service company.

Name and shame the company.

It happened to me too when I worked for an MNC. People kept asking me to join daily stand‑up calls at 10 am while my shift started at 2 pm. So I ended up working from 10 am to about 11 pm on average. I quit the company a few months later.

Some US clients are like this - they want the best return on their investment and know we have little choice. EU clients are far better when it comes to work-life balance.

Our client wants us to attend meetings in their morning, usually from 9 am to 11 am, but we don't log in early - we log in around 2‑3 pm depending on late‑night calls. The problem isn't the client; it's your company expecting you to join at 9:30 am.
