In September 2020, a 22‑year‑old Dalit college student was gang‑raped and killed in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh. Within 24 hours two men were arrested. The UP government promised justice, Bollywood reacted and politicians spoke. Then everyone moved on. Nearly six years later there is still no media follow‑up, no public court update, nothing on Reddit or anywhere else - the case has been completely swallowed by silence. This is what happens to most cases in India once the news cycle moves on. The victim's family got an initial compensation of ₹6 lakh from the UP government, but money is not justice. Six years on there is no public record of a trial verdict.
