Meghalaya is really the most underrated destination in India and nobody seems to talk about it enough
I just got back from Meghalaya and I have to ask, why doesn't anyone rave about this place? The water in Dawki is so clear it looks almost artificial. The waterfalls in Cherrapunji are simply breathtaking. The living root bridges look like they're straight out of a fantasy film. The cafes in Shillong have a better vibe than most big cities. And the weather is just perfect, almost always cool enough to wear a hoodie. What really surprised me was how clean Mawlynnong is, I mean really clean, not just by Indian standards. The only downside is that planning a trip can be a bit confusing, flights only go up to Guwahati and then you have to take the road, and even though the distances seem short on a map, the hills can really slow you down. Has anyone else here visited Meghalaya recently, did you go solo or with a group, and did you plan it yourself or go through a tour company? I'm actually thinking of going back next year with some friends.

I really want to visit Meghalaya someday
I think it's better that it stays underrated, at least the people from the North East are way ahead when it comes to civic sense, which helps keep the surroundings really beautiful.
A lot of people are talking about it, but I think it's better if it stays underrated. I'm from Guwahati and Shillong is just a three hour drive away. There's already a lot of tourists flocking in and I'm worried it'll become the next Manali
It's not really underrated, it's actually a pretty popular weekend getaway for people from Assam and Bengal.
One tip I can give you is to stay overnight near Shnongpdeng instead of just doing a day trip to Dawki, the morning river view is totally different
The North East is definitely beautiful, with a lot of places to explore
