Title: 24M, B.Com, 12.5LPA CTC @ Big4, unhappy with domain - need advice
Post by: Dhruv on Jun 21, 2026, 01:51 PM
Hey folks, I'm working at a Big 4 in the AML & compliance division. I've only handled one client throughout my stint. The job has become quite monotonous and repetitive, with little scope to learn anything new. I've already reached the top of the pay band in this area, and without moving into a managerial role I don't see much growth.

My qualifications-
- B.Com (2022 batch) from a Tier-3/4 college.
- Previously did a stint at a top-tier global bank in the same line of work.
- Willing to pick up tech skills (model validation, in-house MIS, etc.) which could open doors in AML/compliance. I estimate about 6-8 months of upskilling, but getting an interview will be tough without experience.
- Another route could be professional certifications like FRM or CFA. Not sure if that will land me a core finance or operational-risk role given my lack of experience, though it might create other opportunities later.
- Lastly, I could appear for CAT next year and aim for a good B-school. I'd be 27 at graduation, essentially starting from scratch in a new field, which is a big risk if I end up unemployed.

Please advise.

Consider doing an MBA; you already have solid work experience.

No offense, but are you really earning that much with just a B.Com?

Did you pick up any skills after B.Com? I just graduated this year and need a job quickly, so any advice on landing a decent paying role would help.

Hi, can I DM you? I work in a similar field and would appreciate your guidance. I'm a 22-year-old B.Com (Hons) graduate.
