Title: Keep Old Products or Switch?
Post by: Varun on May 21, 2026, 07:07 PM
I'm thinking of revamping my skin‑care routine, not because the current products aren't working – they've been doing great. I've been on the same four for over a year, and it took ages to pick them. But maybe it's time for a change.

1. I want to drop the salicylic cleanser since I don't have active acne any more, just post‑acne marks. I've read that the Fixderma cleanser works well for scars and pigmentation.

2. I'm considering swapping the Derma Co cleanser and Re'équil moisturizer only because I'm feeling product fatigue (they're both lovely, by the way).

3. The Underrated sunscreen is the only product I dislike – it leaves my skin oily and dull, and I just discovered it contains oxybenzone.

Are these replacements any good? Any other suggestions? Or should I stick with the old stuff?

What exactly do you mean by "product fatigue"?

If you don't have active acne, skip the SA cleanser and go for a targeted serum for marks and pigmentation instead of scars.

You could try a simple, moisturizing cleanser – it cleans well. I didn't like the light version of Moist, but I find the Water Boost gel‑cream works better.

Switch to a better sunscreen than the Plum one; it's okay for indoor use but it melts off with sweat in heat.

I don't see a problem dropping the Minimalist BHA facewash, but moving to Fixderma may not add much. It's better to pick a super gentle cleanser – like Minimalist Aquaphorin or Oat – or a mild exfoliating one such as Minimalist AHA.

Switching a moisturizer just because of "product fatigue" isn't very wise; if it works, stick with it. Consistency is key. If Re'équil is giving you hyaluronic acid and ceramides, why change?

You also need a better SPF – the two you posted aren't great. Minimalist Light Fluid is okay, Blynds Emulgel is popular here, UV Doux and Re'équil are good options. Look for pharma‑recommended sunscreens on this sub.

I don't get why people rave about the Simple facewash. I didn't notice anything special – it feels like any other generic wash, so it's just okay for me.

OP, could you share a review of the Underrated sunscreen?

To be frank, if your current routine works, why risk a change? Also, cleansers won't affect existing scars or pigmentation; they only help prevent new ones by stopping fresh breakouts.
