My brain is fried; I just started preparing for banking exams. I'm currently in engineering and was planning to go for SO IT roles, then thought I'd study for PO since I have about a year left before the 2027 exam. Then I saw those depressing posts about sales and stuff. One guy who started the negativity – I'm not sure I saw all his posts – said he wouldn't demotivate anyone, and from there it turned into a whole discussion about work pressure. Brother, that happens in private companies too. In IT we also face pressure to meet targets, whether it's sales or app functionality. Most people choose banking because the pay is good and parents keep pushing for a government job or banking. I've been coding for 2 years, then AI took over and now I just sit and review if everything is fine. On top of that, IT has massive competition. So I thought after GATE I'd go for banking; the syllabus is lighter. But as soon as I started, the work pressure is everywhere. Time in, time out. And reporting and stuff in Excel can be automated, right? (Asking current POs). If banking were that negative, nobody would chase it. I know not everyone can handle pressure, so why prepare? Overall my brain is messed up with all this. PO guys, tell me about your benefits and life outside the bank – are you enjoying life? That's the only thing I want to know, not the usual pressure talk.
Brother, it's only my third day on the job and I have to tell the BM, 'Sir, if there's any work suitable for me, please let me know.' Outside the bank my life sucks because I get home at 7 pm – the house is far from the bank. The job itself is great and locals respect us, but I'll still quit because I see myself moving into the insurance sector soon.
Brother, everything is relative. I work in a private job and it's pretty chill – I go to the office just two days a week and the allowance is good. I'm only exploring the banking sector for the sake of job security.
Seriously, man, my mind is ruined after seeing so many negative posts.
Brother, are you really that upset over normal posts? The problem is only for those who take it seriously; those who don't care should focus on studies. Stop crying. People sharing their reality are just speaking their mind, not targeting you personally.
Even private jobs can be tough. One person's dream job can be another's nightmare – do whatever feels right to you. If you can picture yourself working in a bank or a corporate for the next 20 years, go for it. I don't see myself staying in the private sector for 20 years, so banking would be my last resort if nothing else works out. And please, OP, stop letting two‑person opinions on the internet affect you. Take care.
