Had a borderline embarrassing encounter today at Delhi airport. I was waiting in the queue at Third Wave and saw two guys ahead wearing Punjab Kings tees, sunglasses, tattoos - the whole IPL vibe - but hardly anyone noticed them or asked for photos, and there were no security folks around. I guessed they might be junior players.
I asked the guy in front if they play for Kings XI and he said yes. I still didn't recognise him, so I asked his name. He calmly replied, "I am Shreyas, Shreyas Iyer".
I told him I was surprised because he looks so different on TV, which is why I didn't recognise him. He and his friend (still a mystery) laughed. I asked for a selfie and he graciously agreed. We chatted, he joked with the barista (who also didn't recognise him), and even ordered for his mates. They took cold brews and talked about team selection. Only one other fan took a picture with him; nobody else seemed to notice.
Overall, he came across as a friendly, down-to-earth guy and quite good looking too!
TLDR: didn't recognise Shreyas Iyer at the airport, asked who he was, got a polite selfie, and found him to be a nice, chilled-out person.

Very nice story.
Should've asked him what he did to Shashank in the dugout
Heart-touching moment for every fan to see such humility from their idol.
You asked permission to click a photo; that's the most civic sense an Indian fan can show - nice man
Nice. I met some commentators including Eoin Morgan and ICC staff at the airport while waiting for the security check in the regular queue during WC 23. Hardly anyone recognized them. The security guards and airport staff didn't care who they were. They treat them like any other person. In real life they're just normal humans like us. We worship them unnecessarily and then judge them unfairly.
Also, I know there's not much to go on, but can anyone guess who the other guy in the background is? You can see his head and hairstyle, and I remember he had tattoos on both arms. I haven't been following cricket lately, so I have zero clue.
OMG bro, this is so sweet! Shreyas has such a nice personality, wish I could meet him too.
Should've also wished him the best, and kudos to your confidence and approach.
Did PBKS manage to catch the flight?
Even when I was a kid I met Shreyas; my brother was about eight. Shreyas treated us like best friends, letting my brother sit on his lap and putting his hand on my shoulder. Very down-to-earth, not gonna lie.
